Do you know that one quote that goes ‘Life changes in a heartbeat?’

That has never been true right now, as [name] lay in Geno’s arms, breathing heavily as blood dribbled from the side of her lips. Numerous gashes and bruises littered her skin, making their appearance through her shredded clothes.

But even though she was in pain, she managed to smile, her last one to her beloved. Her eyes were barely opened, but through her blurry vision, [name] could see Genos’ panicked and angered expression.

‘I’ll find who did this to you and-’

Lips interrupted his heated exclamation, as [name] struggled to stay upright. Her blood carried poison, and sooner or later they were going to travel to her heart and kill her. She knew it wouldn’t long though, her heart was already starting to feel uncomfortable.

‘No point,’ she falls back, the back of her head landing on Genos’ palm. ‘The poison’s already in my heart. I’m not going to live.’

Her voice was already sounding weak, and even though there was wreck and havoc everywhere, Genos’ attention was only on her.

Tears started to spill and slide down the side of her face when she realized she was the one who was going to throw away memories of her and Genos. She was the one who was going to change his life when her heart thumped for the last time.

Memories of Genos meeting [name].

Memories of his and her warmth when they hugged one another.

Memories of sweet kisses.

Memories of him making love to her.

Memories of tears when she felt depressed and Genos was the first one soothe her.

Memories of soft ‘I love you’s.

More tears streamed down, choked sobs erupted from her throat when she realized that her heart felt painfully tight. But even though, she plastered on her best smile and ignored the muffled screams of pain and agony from the blond cyborg above her.

Her senses were too hard to use by now, and she let her instincts kick in by reaching up a trembling bloody hand, leaving streaks of the thick crimson liquid on his half-platinum face.
Golden irises lost in the darkness of his black sclera looked like they had a begging look in them.

‘I love you, so, so much,’ [name] whispered, her voice trembling. ‘Please remember that.’

Her thumb caressed the cold part of his face, before it dropped next to her. Her eyes closed, eyelashes fluttering as she did so. [name]’s lips were still slightly open, as if she wanted to say more things to him but had ran out of time. Trails of blood that were leaking from her gaping lips were drying, crusting down to her chin.

Genos panicked, he didn’t know what to do. Putting a hand on her chest, he felt tears dripping down when he realized that her pulse was extremely slow. It was getting slower and slower, and he turned to his teacher who was having a hard time concentrating on fighting and what to do with [name].

‘Sensei! She’s not breathing!’ He screamed, his emotions going haywire.

Saitama didn’t respond, because he knew she was dead. What did you expect, the venom had gotten to her heart. The bald man crushed the villain's head, before more came over to him. He closed his eyes momentarily, silently grieving for his friend.

Genos’ eyes widened when he could barely feel her heartbeat. It was so weak, and so slow. He
grasped her shoulders and tried to shake her awake in a desperate attempt to wake her up, but no avail.

The quote was so true.

His life changed in a heartbeat when [name]’s heart thumped one last time.
